Once in a lifetime wedding planners

The Weddingparadises.com - interview with:
Katarzyna Wachulka, Once in a lifetime wedding planners

In which year did you start your wedding planning business and which reasons made you start working in this job?
We started in 2005, having organised two of our own weddings and a few weddings for our friends and family. At that time there were hardly any wedding planners in Poland and no tradition to hire any so we thought: it's now or never! and joined forces to build a new branch in the Polish wedding industry.

Do you work alone or in a team?
We are two co-owners of the company with a large team of dedicated and experienced subcontractors as our partners.

In which languages can you take care of your customers?
We speak fluent English and German, also basic Italian and French.

What are the main regions where you are planning weddings?
We work in Lesser Poland (Malopolska), usually in Krakow and the area, also in Zakopane (Tatra mountains) and other cities up to 100 km from Krakow.

What are your personal favourites regarding:
a) a location for a destination wedding in your home region?

Krakow has dozens of beautiful churches, representing any architectural style from romanesque to modern, any size from chapel to cathedral. If only you're planning a Catholic wedding, there are lots of beautiful places to choose from.

b) a location for a destination wedding in the rest of the world?
We can't offer you a white-sand-beach-wedding, but I guess that would be my favourite! One of our Couples had their first wedding (civil ceremony) next to a magnolia tree at Sydney Harbour. The photos looked amazing!

c) a location for a wedding reception in your home region?
The Krakow area offers many beautiful historic sites (palaces, castles, manor houses) which are most frequently chosen for destination weddings. For thrill-seekers, there is our world famous salt mine - have you ever thought of having an underground wedding?

d) a location for a wedding reception in in the rest of the world?
An outdoor wedding somewhere in the mediterranean must be fantastic!

e) a country / region / hotel for a honeymoon?
I'd say - anywhere special: whether it's far enough or beautiful enough or just a place that's important to you. Your honeymoon should be relaxing and memorable, even if you don't travel half the world to get there.

Have you organised weddings for prominent people?
We've organised weddings for Poland-based diplomats and top businessmen. We're not authorised to disclose names though.

Have you organised weddings for couples from outside your country?
We organise mixed (Polish-foreign) weddings all the time. Our Customers so far came from over a dozen countries including the USA, Canada, France, Italy, Holland, Germany, Belarus or Saudi Arabia. Most of our foreign Customers come from the UK and Ireland. We organise entirely foreign weddings (e.g. for two Irish or British citizens) too.

Which strengths of your company would you like to mention?
We'd prefer the testimonials displayed on our website speak for us on this issue. Please visit us at www.marryinpoland.com or www.razwzyciu.pl and see for yourselves!

Could you tell us a little story about something special that you have experienced during your work as a wedding planner?
It's hard to think of just one story - we've had Guests getting "lost" on their way from the ceremony to the reception at an Irish pub ;), a cake so big it could hardly fit through the reception venue's door, popstars performing at a reception, a meeting with the Spanish cycling team who were in Krakow for the Tour de Pologne and took the time for a photo session with one of our Couples and many many more....
