Premier Wedding Planners Scotland

The Weddingparadises.com interview with: Lucy Swanson, Premier Wedding Planners Scotland Ltd

In which year did you start your wedding planning business and which reasons made you start working in this job?
We have officially been in business for 3 years now, but have been planning weddings for much longer for friends and relatives. Cheryl and I both have experience in event management, we are very organised individuals with any eye for detail - essential attributes to possess as a planner. We love weddings, they are such happy occasions. It is really enjoyable to help some achieve the wedding they many have dreamed of all their life.

Do you work alone or in a team?
We work very much as a team. Cheryl and I are sisters, best friends and business partners. We work very well together as we are both passionate, determined individuals for strive for the best in all that we do. Although our personalities are different, we compliment each other very well and always secure a strong bond with our clients - crucial when you are involved in organising one of the most important days of their life. We have a team of suppliers that we like to use, but our clients are not obligated to use them, we always pick high quality suppliers that are reliable and meet our clients' individual needs. We never supply on a commission basis.

In which languages can you take care of your customers?
We use English as is it the most universal language, and we use a array of different communication methods - meeting, emails, telephone, conference calls, skype - however best suits our client.

What are the main regions where you are planning weddings?
We specialise in coordinating weddings in Scotland, however we have worked in Europe, Thailand and in Mexico. Also, Lucy is based in Dubai in the winter months, so we are beginning to coordinate weddings tin the UAE also.

What are your personal favourites regarding:
a) a location for a destination wedding in your home region?

We are both from Inverness in the Highlands of Scotland, so we would have to say Loch Ness! Although every part of Scotland is beautiful and can provide the perfect wedding location. Eilean Donan Castle on the Isle of Skye is stunning and popular with couples.

b) a location for a destination wedding in the rest of the world?
Personally I love Dubai for a beach location wedding, or New York for a city wedding. However, I could choose hundreds!

c) a location for a wedding reception in your home region?
Again, so many, but for beauty with history, I would say Edinburgh Castle

d) a location for a wedding reception in in the rest of the world?
The Plaza, New York.

e) a country / region / hotel for a honeymoon?
For utter relaxation, I would recommend an island in the Indian or Pacific Ocean. African safari is also an excellent choice for those that prefer a more adventurous honeymoon.

Have you organised weddings for prominent people?
Client confidentiality prevents us from naming names, but we have been fortunate to organise some fantastic weddings!!

Have you already organised weddings for couples from outside your country?
Most of our clients are non-UK residents, the majority coming from mainland Europe, the USA and Canada.

Which strengths of your company would you like to mention?
Our sisterly bond, attention to detail, organisation skills and passion for planning weddings are second to none. We do not plan 'conveyor belt' wedding, each is unique to the clients' needs and wants.

Could you tell us a little story about something special that you have experienced during your work as a wedding planner?
Every wedding we coordinate is special, and most importantly unique. To be a part of such a special day in someone's life is such an amazing feeling. We love watching the day come into fruition and sharing the journey with our clients. By the time the wedding day arrives you are not only their planner but their friend. We have the best job in the world ...
